About event

An in depth introduction to collagraph printmaking! Join experienced printmaker Sarah Godfrey for this exciting workshop exploring the collagraph printmaking technique. A collagraph is essentially a collage of materials glued to a printing plate, to create a textured surface image, which then can be inked and printed on an etching press. Discover and gain an understanding of the process while having fun and learning from each other. Session 1: Sat 18th April 10.30 am - 4 pm Making the Collagraph plate Session 2 : Sun 19th April 10.30 am - 4 pm Printing your plate Who is the course for? This workshop is equally suited both for the beginner and the experienced printmaker wanting to explore the process further. What will I need to bring? All materials and equipment will be provided. You may like to bring ideas, photos or sketches to work from but this is not essential. Please bring with you any textured paper, net curtain, lace, dried flowers, leaves etc that can be stuck down and inked to create texture and imagery. If you don't have these, don't worry we can provide some for you. Please wear old clothes as printing can get messy. No sandals, heels or open toed shoes. Aprons will be provided. You may want to bring a packed lunch. Teas, coffee, water and biscuits are provided. About the tutor Sarah brings a spontaneous and intuitive approach to making her artwork, enjoying using as many different methods of mark making within one image as she can. Sarah's training as an Illustrator influenced her imaginative and fantastical style of image making. She is passionate about printmaking, having worked at many workshops, colleges, schools and organisations. She is an enthusiastic and encouraging tutor with people of all ages and abilities.
