RSVPAdnan Khan on sitar, Vinay Desai on santoor, Ustad Akram Khan and Ustad Shahbaz Hussain on tabla. A Hundred Strings at The Stoller Hall, Manchester, 20 November, 7 PM. About KalaSudha brings A Hundred Strings to The Stoller Hall on Friday 20 November. Adnan Khan plays sitar in the gayaki ang, which shapes instrumental phrases after the singing voice. Vinay Desai, a disciple of Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, plays the hundred-stringed santoor of Kashmir. Manchester is the only date on the tour with two tabla players. Ustad Akram Khan carries the Ajrada gharana tradition; Manchester-based Ustad Shahbaz Hussain draws on the Delhi and Punjab gharanas. They join the string players for an evening of ragas, improvisation and rhythmic exchange. Doors open at 6:45 PM. Music runs from 7:00 to 9:30 PM GMT. Book through the KalaSudha event page. For access needs, contact KalaSudha before the concert. We warmly invite your editorial team to attend, and complimentary press passes are available on request.
