RSVPAdnan Khan on sitar, Vinay Desai on santoor and Ustad Akram Khan on tabla. A Hundred Strings at Holywell Music Room, Oxford, 18 November, 7 PM. About KalaSudha brings A Hundred Strings to the Holywell Music Room on 18 November. Adnan Khan plays sitar in the gayaki ang, shaping instrumental phrases after the singing voice. Vinay Desai, a disciple of Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, plays the hundred-stringed santoor of Kashmir. Ustad Akram Khan of the Ajrada gharana plays tabla with both. The sitar bends and slides between notes; the santoor rings through strokes from two wooden mallets. The musicians develop ragas through melody, improvisation and rhythmic exchange. Doors open at 6:45 PM. Music runs from 7:00 to 9:30 PM GMT. Book through the KalaSudha event page. For access needs, contact KalaSudha before the concert. We warmly invite your editorial team to attend, and complimentary press passes are available on request. Read more Toggle Performance / Live Art Audio / Sound
