Jon Purnell’s HAIR WORLD is an exhibition of paintings and drawings, bringing together portraits, observations and fragments of everyday life, presented inside Alma + Margo’s working hair salon during Frieze Week 2026. About A+M Exhibition 01: HAIR WORLD Purnell’s distinctive “hair paintings” are made using hair as a drawing material, creating intricate, tactile images that sit somewhere between portraiture, drawing and sculpture. Alongside these works are chalk drawings that turn their attention to the ordinary, the familiar and the absurd. His subjects range from people and faces to mundane moments and passing observations — the kinds of things that might normally go unnoticed.
