About event

£38 ticket: a guided tasting of seven pear canapés with Pu'er tea, eaten as you walk along an edible installation by Tony Li. Free entry to the exhibition. About A Plan for Eating is a guided edible installation by Tony Li of Moonlight Collective. A long standing table is drawn as a 1:1 architectural plan, and a single ingredient, pear, travels across it from fresh to preserved. Visitors move along the table in small groups, passing through a sequence of zones. Each is both a place and a moment in the pear's life: -Threshold, where the pear is crisp and closest to its original state; -Promenade, where it begins to change; -Pause, the pear at its perceived peak; -Beyond, roasted and fermented; -Courtyard, where sourdough and pear are broken and shared around the table; -Departure, a final preserved bite of pear pâte de fruit with warm Pu'er tea. The table starts out pristine. Over the evening it fills with crumbs, torn bread and traces of hands and conversation. A best-before date marks the moment food begins to decline; this table works the other way. It looks most perfect before anyone touches it, but it isn't finished until it has been used. Tony Li's practice sits between architecture and food. Architecture taught him to think about scale, circulation and how bodies move through space; cooking taught him timing, transformation and hospitality. Tuesday 20 October, sessions from 6–8:30pm. Free entry to the exhibition. Tickets (£38 per person) are for a guided tasting of seven canapés, and can be booked here: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/whiteshepherdgallery/2445518 . Tickets may also be available on the door, subject to availability. Allergens: contains gluten (wheat), milk, egg, soya, celery, mustard and sulphites.
