RSVPA solo exhibition by Scottish figurative painter Samantha Wilson, bringing a new body of figurative paintings on canvas and works on paper. About A Quiet Dichotomy A solo exhibition by Samantha Wilson A Quiet Dichotomy explores the fragile space between connection and distance, tenderness and unease, recognition and uncertainty. Drawing from an archive of found, institutional and personal photographs, Glasgow-based painter Samantha Wilson brings together paintings and works on paper that consider vulnerability, care and the complexities of being alongside others whose experiences can never be entirely known. Through slow processes of painting, drawing, layering and erasure, figures emerge and dissolve, resisting fixed narratives. New multi-panel paintings extend this exploration by physically separating the canvas, interrupting bodies and forms that might otherwise remain whole. Soft colour and delicate washes bring gentleness to images that may hold something difficult or unresolved. At a time when so much competes for our attention, the exhibition invites viewers to slow down, remain with uncertainty and consider what it means to look attentively at another. Drawing Painting
