RegisterA collective Poetry Session with artists Ishita Chakraborty and Rhoda Davids along the river Wehrenbach. This workshop explores the river as a living process, carrying memories, voices, and transformations across languages and places together with artists Ishita Chakraborty and Rhoda Davids Abel. Beginning with a shared listening session of river songs and field recordings from the Amazon, the Sundarbans, Tanzania, and South Africa, participants are invited into an embodied space of attention, accompanied by gentle gestures inspired by moving through water. Drawing on the notion of Waterloper, walking with water, the workshop approaches writing as a fluid and relational practice. Poetry becomes a vessel for emotions, memories, and narratives in motion. Participants are invited to reflect on rivers that hold meaning for them, whether real, remembered, or imagined, and to translate these into words, fragments, and sounds using typewriters and other materials. Working across different languages, texts are written, rewritten, and transformed, creating a shared flow of voices. The workshop unfolds as a collective process, where individual contributions come together to form a living glossary of river languages, shaped by personal stories, cultural references, and imagination.
