Five floors, ten rooms, no fixed route. Fred Fabre's A Sacred Theatre rewrites the unicorn myth and gives history's erased women back their horn. Wrong Gallery, Moseley. Enter at your own risk. Not for everyone. About (extended hours for the last weekend - Saturday 17 & Sunday 18 October -10:30 - 17:00 (last entry) A Sacred Theatre fills five floors of a large Victorian house in Moseley, room after room, painting after painting. Some doors have peepholes instead of handles. Behind one, a toy unicorn sits lit on a miniature stage inside a blue stone the size of a coin, beneath a handwritten sign reading "performance starts in ___h ___min." The blanks are never filled in. It never starts. "I built something that promises a performance and never delivers one," says artist Fred Fabre. "That's not a trick on the visitor. That's just how belief usually works." The same operation runs through the rest of the house, and through the rest of Fabre's practice. He treats the unicorn not as a fixed symbol but as a survival strategy: a purity myth in one century, a logo in this one, its meaning rewritten each time to suit whoever holds power over it rather than whoever it claims to represent. He turns that same drift on the women painted across these walls, each one written out of the historical record, given back a horn, and put back in a room where the myth might, for once, answer to them. Ten rooms build one continuous narrative, but the route through them isn't fixed. Peepholes where doorways should be. Each dead end reroutes the story rather than stopping it, so two visitors leaving on the same afternoon can walk out holding opposite readings of what they just saw, the same rooms serving feminism, faith, and a live question about artificial intelligence, without the show ever choosing between them. This is the fourth act in six years of work at Wrong Gallery. Nothing inside is labelled. Enter at your own risk. Not for everyone. Not for children.
