RegisterAabee Bleue Project is pleased to present Rise , an exhibition of new works by Ardeshir Tabrizi. This marks the first time the gallery presents the artist’s work, bringing together seven paintings from the Rise series. The exhibition centers on the human body and the themes of life and death—subjects that, while universal, take on a deeply personal resonance here. Tabrizi’s father is currently undergoing treatment for lung cancer, an experience that has brought these questions into sharp focus. Witnessing this process has shaped the work profoundly, infusing it with an acute awareness of the body’s fragility and vulnerability. Alongside this personal dimension, the artist continues to engage with recurring themes in his practice: human history, cultural memory, and the individual’s place within both past and present. Tabrizi frequently draws on motifs inspired by Persian and Indian miniature traditions, creating a visual language that connects historical references with contemporary experience. This body of work introduces a new emotional intensity. Many of the paintings feature central figures situated within layered, open spaces that invite contemplation. In Rise , subtle references to René Magritte appear in the form of figures ascending into ambiguous, transitional spaces—suggesting movement, transformation, and the unknown. Tabrizi describes his perspective as humanist rather than religious or spiritual. His work considers how individuals shape and are shaped by the world around them—through history, family, and collective experience—while navigating their place within contemporary society.
