ARPAD – Third Expository Cycle

The 3rd Exhibition Cycle of the Arpad Szenes-Vieira da Silva Museum revisits the work of Arpad Szenes through small and medium-scale pieces, including drawing, engraving and painting. About Opened on September 20, ARPAD, the exhibition that marks the 3rd Exhibition Cycle of the Arpad Szenes-Vieira da Silva Museum, revisits the work of Arpad Szenes, a singular and larger work; a light source that remained in shadow for a greater cause. Vieira's other half is revealed: experimentalist, permanently passionate about others and things in the world, the man who went through two World Wars, never lost, quite the opposite, his candor and his infinite curiosity; freedom as a motto of life and as a map for the work; after the great exhibition dedicated to the artist at MASVS in 2007, the work is once again considered, with small and medium-scale pieces, many surprises, several new ones, including drawing, engraving and painting. Parallel programming accompanies this exhibition cycle, promoting meetings, conversations and activities that expand the exhibition experience and create spaces for dialogue between art, thought and community. Through different formats and voices, these initiatives propose new ways of approaching the works and themes that permeate the museum's programming, notably the CERZIR conversation cycle at Casa-Atelier, curated and moderated by Marta Espiridião. The inauguration will feature a performance by choreographer and performer Volmir Cordeiro, presented as part of a partnership between the Foundation, the French Embassy in Portugal and the Institut Français du Portugal.
