Ceramics Workshop: Canny Clay

Sculpt your own canny creation inspired by the weird and wonderful ceramic sculptures included in our current exhibition, ‘Canny Valley’. About Sculpt your own canny creation inspired by the weird and wonderful ceramic sculptures included in our current exhibition, ‘Canny Valley’. Over this 2.5 hour session, you will make clay pieces using coil building techniques, as a way of pushing material to be as weird as possible. This workshop will encourage you to collaborate with the material, rather than pre-plan a piece. We’ll take care of glazing and firing it for you too, all included in the price of your ticket, so it’s ready for you to take home in time for Christmas. You will need to collect your ceramic piece between Sat 12 Dec and Sat 19 Dec, Wed – Sat, 11-5pm. (Turf unfortunately doesn’t have space to hold onto ceramics pieces beyond this date, so if you cannot collect by the 19th Dec at the latest, your object will be disposed of or sold to fundraise for Turf.) This is a paid workshop, with all ticket sales going towards our Permaculture campaign advocating for a permanent home for Turf and grassroots culture in Croydon. Turf is currently facing displacement by an impending Westfield development, so every clay creation made for your home helps us get one step closer to a new home for art in Croydon. Tickets are £45 or £30 if you’re already a Turf ceramics member. If you’re not already a Turf ceramics member, book your induction to join and receive a code for £15 off, plus ongoing access to our open access ceramics studio.
