Register‘Common Good’ is about finding communion, harmony and interconnectedness between ourselves and our environment.
‘Common Good’ is about finding communion, harmony and interconnectedness between ourselves and our environment. Whilst each artist and maker in this exhibition has their own distinct practice, they all share glimpses of the ephemeral encounters with people and places that captured their attention for a moment and that they, in turn, sought to capture on camera, on paper, on canvas or in clay. The delight they experience is conveyed in soft marks, in the pour of a glaze, drips of paint, incised lines or layered, obscured images, all of which demand that we, the viewers, pause and take some time to decrypt them. ‘Common Good’ is the second in a series of exhibitions which brings together artists and makers participating in South East Open Studios. SEOS is an event that takes place every year in the South East of England, across Kent and Sussex, whereby creatives open their studios or workshops to the public in June. As SEOS celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026, these exhibitions at EDE Projects are, in turn, a celebration of the creative community that is at the heart of this region. EDE Projects is a hybrid art studio, gallery and project space in Rye, East Sussex. It was founded by artist and curator Eloise Dethier-Eaton to run creative workshops, to exhibit her own work and to curate solo and group shows with artists from Rye and beyond whose work she admires.
