In the work of Gabriela Prosszer and Alex Ivanov, what we see is never presented to the eye in a definitive form. The image takes shape and comes apart, conceals and reveals, preserves the traces of an experience while simultaneously transforming it. The body, memory, fragility, rupture, and metamorphosis run through the work of both artists, each articulated in a different register. In Gabriela Prosszer's works, painting assumes a gestural, visceral, and deeply introspective dimension. Colour, matter, and gesture become carriers of an inner tension, in a constant oscillation between eruption and withdrawal, wound and healing, body and memory. The image does not seek stable harmony; rather, it captures a process: something breaks apart, is covered over, transformed, and reassembled. In Alex Ivanov's work, metamorphosis becomes the principle that articulates the visual construction. Fragmented or hybrid bodies, masks, eyes, hands, birds, fish, roots, and lines migrate from one work to another, accumulating meanings while retaining the memory of previous forms. Here, too, identity is never fixed: it continuously fragments and reconstructs itself. Beyond their differences in expression, the two artists converge in this instability of the image. In one, the figure transforms and becomes the bearer of a memory; in the other, painterly matter seems to give form to an inner experience. In both cases, the visible is only the first layer of the work. Hence the title of the exhibition: ( CON - FUSION ). A formulation that speaks of encounter, but also of the tension such an encounter entails. Two distinct visual languages draw closer without merging, confront one another without cancelling each other out, and build, precisely through their differences, a shared visual space. Here, fusion does not mean homogenisation. Rather, it is a process of proximity, interference, and transformation, in which gesture and figure, matter and sign, body and memory, fragility and metamorphosis begin to reverberate within one another. ( CON - FUSION ) thus becomes the site of a paradoxical encounter: two autonomous artistic identities which, brought together, generate a third reality — that of the exhibition itself.
