DF5: The First Five Years

All artists who have shown at Delight Factory in the first five years will present at DF5, most of them new work. About DF5: The First Five Years brings together and celebrates every artist who has shown at Delight Factory. The works on view, most of them new and some familiar, move between earth and sky. Kate Raudenbush's Oculus Root , the portal at the heart of the space, traces that path in steel: roots modeled on mycelium and mangroves, an eye for intuition, wings about to take flight. Much of the show stays close to the ground, made by hand from materials that have lived a life before: reclaimed yarn, a canoe paddle carved with a graffiti writer's blessing, a hood ornament found on a long walk. Some works call on sounds of the everyday, and some repeat a simple gesture until a pattern emerges. Others reach upward or radiate moving light that is never the same twice. Between earth and sky lies the potential of the personal, and the wish carved into the paddle: Stay up .
