DIVERSE/CITY at Underdog Bookstore Curator A. Laura Brody presents “Diverse City” a collaboration between The Arroyo Arts Collective and Underdog Bookstore

Mary Cheung and Leah Knecht were chosen for their vivid interpretations of the world and its history, their use of multiple mediums, and their wild talents. Mary was born in Hong Kong, raised in San Francisco, and is a bold performer, photographer, and creator. Leah comes from a Japanese American family and creates detailed painted and multimedia works that speak to both personal and cultural history. This is their first time working together. Workshop March 28th 11 am From Mary Cheung: Art is Therapy – Join Artist Mary Cheung in celebrating a new painting series: Kitty Faces Her Fears. During the opening, you will be invited to interact with the theme of the series. - Large group interactive piece - series coloring book -leave your fears behind, wood panel art **all materials will be supplied From Leah Knecht: She will provide a journal or fishbowl with paper available where people can write their immigrant stories, which she can incorporate into her art. Underground Bookstore 312 S Myrtle Avenue, Monrovia, CA 91016 This exhibition is supported, in part, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, LA County Department of Arts and Culture as part of Creative Recovery LA, an initiative funded by the American Rescue Plan, the California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program, as funded, by the State of California and administered by CalOSBA.
