RSVPWe will be drawing from In Between Living by acclaimed Bangladeshi filmmaker Juboraj Shamim. Drawing from Film is led by Ieva Ball and Mary Millner of Larkhall Art Club. A collaboration with Clapham International Film Festival (ciff.uk) taking part in The Big Draw Festival. About What if you didn’t just watch a film, but drew it? This Clapham International Film Festival collaboration welcomes artists, students and curious audiences to sketch from the screen as they watch In Between Living (OTOL), the acclaimed second feature by Bangladeshi filmmaker Juboraj Shamim. In Between Living is a slow, meditative film in which every frame is composed like a painting. It follows Juboraj through an unfinished existence, suspended between birth and death in a state reminiscent of the Buddhist idea of Bardo. Memories, imagined pasts and fragments of reality emerge and dissolve, giving artists long, lingering images to draw from. Drawing from Film turns the cinema into a studio. The audience doesn’t sit in silent darkness. They take up paper and pencils and respond to the film as it unfolds, making a live, participatory record of the screening. We hope artists will share their work after the film. Film / Video Drawing
