Family Space with John Macedo

Join artist John Macedo for an exciting family workshop exploring performance, play and sound. Suitable for children aged 5–12 years with their parents and carers.

ABOUT FAMILY SPACE JAN – APR 2026 Family Space is a programme of free workshops that take place on the last Saturday of the month. Sessions are self-directed and designed for families with children aged 5-12 years old. The space is supported by the SLG’s Communities and Learning team. From January to April 2026, sessions will be led by Family Space Artist in Residence John Macedo . The residency will end in April with a moment to celebrate the collective work of participating families. ABOUT JOHN MACEDO John Macedo is an artist and performer from London. He has incorporated everything from acoustic instruments and environmental sound to analogue, digital and DIY electronics into recorded works, live performances, film, sound installations and workshops. He has a pluralistic approach which explores connections and relationships and revealing the hidden potential in all sounds, environments and technologies, often in intimate, immersive and intuitive ways. ACCESS The room is likely to be noisy. Sensory materials are available on request. This event is seated. Ear plugs, ear defenders, magnifying glasses and wheelchairs are all available. Please note that Family Space runs on a first come first serve basis and you may be required to wait a short while for a space to become available if we are at maximum capacity BOOKING The workshop is free and drop-in any time from 11am-1pm. No booking required. Places are available on a first come, first served basis.

What to expect:
Multi-disciplinary
