RSVPA collection of watercolors created in New York between 1998–2000, where Gerard Mossé transforms pigment, water, and paper into luminous work that appears to glow from within. About The watercolors in Light Rising: Watercolors 1998-2000 were created together in New York over a three year period. Gerard Mossé's work transforms the simple materials of pigment, water, and paper into something that appears to glow from within. The influences that shaped his work, from the intense light of North Africa to the stained-glass windows of Sainte-Chapelle, come together through his thoughtful process of layering and mixing color. While the paintings are rooted in the physical properties of watercolor, their luminous surfaces evoke something beyond the material, offering a moment of stillness in which light and color seem to transcend the limitations of the small sheet of paper. Printed catalogue available with written text by the artist. Special hours Saturday, November 14th 12-5 pm for the ADAA Upper East Side Art Walk. Join us for a guided tour with the artist at 4 pm. Regular gallery hours Tuesday-Friday, 10-5, Monday & Saturday by appointment Read more Toggle Painting
