Graves Gallery Tour: JG Graves and His Gallery

Take a free guided tour of the Graves Gallery and find out about the man whose generosity founded it. In 1929 John George Graves gave £30,000 to the construction of a new library with the condition that an art gallery would be built on the top floor, giving the gallery its name when it opened five years later. An avid art collector, he amassed an astounding 3000 pictures throughout his lifetime and gave 700 of those to the city collection. Join us at the Graves Gallery and find out about more about life, work and collection of JG Graves.
