Gretna Kids Playhouse Teen Theatre Workshop 2026

Join us for GKP's Teen Theatre Workshop! Performers aged 12-16 will study the craft of acting for two weeks, then perform onstage. REFUNDS CANNOT BE REQUESTED THROUGH EVENTBRITE. Click here! ) For two weeks, performers will study the craft of acting through theatre games, professional-led coaching sessions, and rehearsals - all culminating in two performances of Tracy Wells’ decidedly silly (and certainly spooky), Eerie Academy. At Eerie, school is in session, but your sub might be an alien - and it’s too not hard to find three actual witches for the drama club’s production of Macbeth ! Actors will hone their comedic skills and learn about working collaboratively, as an ensemble. At GKP, all performers have their moment in the spotlight, regardless of experience or skill level. The workshop will be held at the Gretna Cultural Center for the Arts (Huey P. Long Ave. and 4th St.) and is open to performers ages 12-16. The workshop runs Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm, June 1-12. We will have two performances of the show on Saturday, June 13, at 3:30 pm and 7:00 pm. Actors must be available to participate in BOTH performances. IMPORTANT! Please note that enrollment for the teen session will close on WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15, or once all spots are filled - whichever comes first. A t-shirt will be provided with registration. Additional t-shirts will be available for purchase. Performers are expected to wear their camp shirts onstage. NOTE: IMPORTANT INFO BELOW REGARDING REFUND POLICY AND SIBLING TUITION DISCOUNTS. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. Regarding payment: A discounted sibling rate of $250 is available for families with two or more participating children with the purchase of one child at the regular $275 rate. After submitting payment, you will be provided a link to access the camper info registration form, which must be completed for each child in order to finalize your reservations. Regarding participant cancellations: The fee consists of a $100 NONREFUNDABLE deposit + a balance that is refundable until 5/13/2025. No refunds for this session will be issued after 5/13. Should you need to cancel prior to 5/13, please call 504-363-1500 to request the refundable portion of your registration, which will be processed within 5 business days. The City of Gretna reserves the right to cancel the teen workshop due to insufficient enrollment on or before 4/21/26. Should workshop cancellation occur, GKP families will be notified and refunded in full for the cancelled session. **TEEN SESSION DEADLINE REMINDERS** 4/15 - last day to enroll for for teen session (This is a hard deadline - don't wait!) 4/1- last day to apply for need-based scholarship (see below) 5/13 - cancellation deadline for tuition balance refund ($100 deposit is nonrefundable) A need-based scholarship will be available to one participant, thanks to the generosity of the Post Backstage.
