RegisterFirst solo exhibition in Italy by Hanna Rochereau (1995, Paris). New sculptural works and paintings transform Mare Karina into a compressed archive, questioning how value, visibility, and power are constructed within contemporary archives.
Presented on the occasion of the Venice Biennale Arte – "Data Divas" is the first solo exhibition in Italy by French artist Hanna Rochereau (1995, Paris), who for the occasion transforms Mare Karina into a compressed archive bringing together new sculptural works and paintings. The artist creates a space that oscillates between showroom, studio, and back end, challenging the idea of the archive as a neutral and transparent site. Through sculptural assemblages and painting, Rochereau investigates the role of contemporary archives in art and fashion, understood not only as tools of preservation and production, but as devices through which value, visibility, and hierarchies are constructed, translated into data, and continually rewritten. Visitors are invited to come into contact with the infrastructures that normally operate out of sight, behind the brand, behind the museum, behind the screen. The archive thus emerges as an unstable and speculative zone, where promises of access and preservation coexist with forms of exclusion and revision. Hanna Rochereau lives and works in Marseille and received a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from ECAL, Lausanne, in 2020. In 2025 she presented her work in a solo exhibition as part of the Hauser & Wirth Invite(s) programme in Paris, and undertook residencies at Collection Lambert, Avignon, and Villa Belleville, Paris. In 2026 her work will be presented in exhibitions in Munich, Milan, and London. In dialogue with Biennale's curatorial framework "In Minor Keys", "Data Divas" proposes an intimate and sensorial register, distant from spectacular narratives, transforming the gallery into a coded and quietly rebellious experience.
