Haunted by Light

Haunted by Light highlights photoreactive media that draw attention to forms of light as they delineate the limits of our vision and visibility. About Artists: elin o’Hara slavick , Natasha Viosna Moody , Dan Ortiz Leizman , David Koh , Leigh Davis , Cinthya Santos-Briones Co-curated by Katherine Guinness In this group exhibition accompanied by a series of artist-led workshops, SoRA and six contemporary artists invite you to question the faultlines between vision and understanding: what can we see? What should we see? And what do we fail to recognize despite seeing? On view are cyanotypes, autoradiographs, and lumen photography documenting the slow exposure of objects to fluctuating sunlight and radiation, the “breath” of plants captured and cast as shadows through glass sculptures, flashing diodes of screens that constantly remake and unmake digital images, and audiovisual environments for collective meditation on ephemerality and finitude.
