About event

A survey of recent acquisitions to MOCA's collection, organized thematically by gallery and featuring works across painting, sculpture, and installation. About In These Times: Recent Acquisitions at MOCA surveys artworks added to the museum's collection over the past five years, highlighting major purchases and gifts within MOCA's broader holdings. Organized thematically by gallery—including rooms devoted to representations of Los Angeles, group portraiture, recent developments in abstract painting, and works that dwell in obsessive detail—the exhibition includes works by Ed Bereal, Louise Bonnet, Andrea Bowers, Justin Caguiat, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Christina Forrer, Charles Gaines, Sawako Goda, Jacqueline Humphries, Alex Israel, Suzanne Jackson, Tomashi Jackson, Larry Johnson, Liz Larner, Julie Mehretu and Nairy Baghramian, Rebecca Morris, Kathleen Ryan, Diane Simpson, John Sparagana, Magdalena Suarez Frimkess, Henry Taylor, Vincent Valdez, and Ulla Wiggen, among others. In These Times: Recent Acquisitions is organized by Bennett Simpson, Senior Curator, with Ariana Rizo, Curatorial Assistant, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. Exhibitions at MOCA are supported by the MOCA Fund for Exhibitions with lead funding provided by The Goodman Family Foundation. Major funding is provided by Tatiana Botton, Kathi and Gary Cypres, Alfred E. Mann Charities, and Alicia Miñana and Robert Lovelace. Generous funding is provided by Michael and Zelene Fowler, The Earl and Shirley Greif Foundation, John Morace and Tom Kennedy, Daryl and Robert Offer, Jonathan Segal, and the Carl and Ruth Shapiro Family Foundation.
