RSVPStefanie Trow's drawing installation explores nature as a place of refuge while recognizing its instability and unpredictability, informed by her nomadic journey through Asia and Central America. About Stefanie Trow's drawing installation is inspired by being in nature, Japanese scroll painting and Eastern approaches to landscape, perspective and storytelling, shaped by a recent 18 month nomadic journey through Asia and Central America with her family. Created using oak gall ink made by the artist, the interconnected and sometimes jarring scroll-like drawings explore nature as a place of refuge, while also recognising its instability and unpredictability. Figures move through the landscape, some finding comfort and belonging, others escaping the confines in which they have been placed. Informed by Trow's experience of navigating queer identity within an increasingly uncertain social landscape, the work considers the spaces we turn to for safety, connection and a sense of belonging. Black Mirror Alongside the larger scrolls, Black Mirror brings together smaller drawings made as intuitive studies and emotional responses during the same period. Trow uses these works like a visual diary: a space to pour out ideas and emotions, test possibilities and follow impulses without judgement. About her Practice Stefanie Trow is a British artist based in Manchester, working across painting, drawing and printmaking. Her practice explores her relationship with nature and the human psyche, and the ways in which nature can affect our wellbeing. Her work moves between observation, memory and the unconscious. Drawing is central to her process. She works predominantly intuitively, allowing forms and imagery to emerge through mark-making and material exploration. Fragments of observed landscapes sit alongside subconscious symbols, bodily forms and traces of personal history. Background and Past Exhibitions Trow studied Visual Arts at the University of Salford (2004) and completed the Royal Drawing School's Online Drawing Development Year in 2024. She has exhibited across the UK, Greece, Spain and Bali, and was longlisted for the Jackson Art Prize in 2026 and 2023 and shortlisted by Blue Shop Cottage in 2024. In 2025, Trow was selected for a Royal Drawing School residency at Dumfries House, with a work entering The Royal Collection. Later that year, she was selected for the Maritime Silk Road Museum Festival in Quanzhou, China, where a work was acquired into the museum's public collection.
