About event

An 8-class intermediate course to level up your shortform improv—strengthen game mechanics, hosting & play to the top of your intelligence. Overview 202: Intermediate Shortform is an 8-class course that sharpens your instincts, expands your game vocabulary, and teaches you how to play shortform with precision, creativity, and confidence. You’ll explore more advanced games, deepen your understanding of structure and strategy, and learn how to make fast-paced scenes both smart and surprising. This course is all about playing to your full potential—honing timing, strengthening choices, and developing the stagecraft to thrive under pressure. Note: This class has an optional graduation performance. See dates listed below. Key course topics: Hosting & Game Setup Status & Power Dynamics in Games Justification & Logic Under Pressure Guessing Games & Clever Communication High-Energy & Physical Games Story & Narrative Games Wordplay, Rhyming & Language Games Building a Show: Variety, Flow & Audience Focus Pre-requisites: Introduction to Improv (101) (or proof of equivalent) AND Introduction to Longform Improv (102) (or proof of equivalent of the above) Suggested also Intermediate Improv (201) Our TBC Course Structure Explained: Our courses and classes have 2 defining numbers. The first number defines the level . 1 00 series - Introductory 2 00 series - Intermediate 3 00 series - Advanced etc. Then the 01, 02, 03 etc. defines the type of class. 1 01 Intro to Improv (building blocks) |1 02 Intro to Shortform |1 03 Intro to Longform This class series is in our intermediate 200 series, and will be taking you through some more complex concepts and formats of shortform. Your teacher: Caroline Mathison is a professionally trained actor, clown and improviser from Edinburgh. She has performed at venues and festivals around the UK and Europe, undertaken additional training with legendary practitioners, and has been a core member of TBC since 2011. As a teacher and facilitator she values community and connection: fostering playfulness and creative expression in a friendly, supportive environment. Follow the fun and find the joy! Class Dates and Times: Wednesday evenings 6:30pm-9:00pm May 13, 20, 27 Jun 3, 10, 17, 24 Jul 1, 8 (class showcase) Prices: £175 early bird (up to 22 April) /£195 Enrolment requires proof of prerequisite training.
