RegisterFremin Gallery is delighted to announce the opening reception for "Invisible Library" by artist Pancho Luna "Invisible Library" opens on Thursday, April 23rd at 6p.m and will be on view through May 31th. We look forward to seeing you at the gallery to celebrate this new collaboration. About Pancho Luna, born July 15, 1957 is a mixed media sculptor interested in quasi-architectural arrangements where fabricated books are composed with the same care as a still life. Luna’s fascination with book shelves began in his grandmother’s library where he remembers it as a magical and eclectic place with many books in many languages he did not yet understand. He began to appreciate the different ways of reading a book -- as pure color, shape, smell, texture; as repositories of photographs, illustrations; and ultimately as sites of experience-- in short, as both symbols and objects. This nature of storytelling by means other than words on paper is the phenomenon Luna explores in his bookshelves. He says, “The bookshelves and their infinite combination of possibilities create what I call an "illusory collage". The invented titles trigger stories that the viewer can imagine or recreate with existing authors or titles. The majority of images that coexist in the work are photos taken by me, and some images scanned from real books” Sculpture
