Jess G Morris: Chromatic Flow

Chromatic Flow presents a new body of ceramic work by Jess G Morris, exploring the dynamic interplay between structural precision and expressive surface rhythm. About Working predominantly with porcelain, Morris crafts wheel-thrown and coil-built forms that balance deliberate intention with spontaneous fluidity. Drawn to porcelain for its tactile responsiveness and luminous white surface, Morris uses the clay as an active canvas. Layered underglazes, bold mark-making, and sweeping patterns interact directly with the ceramic body, encouraging the viewer’s eye to navigate the contours of each piece. Her process relies on a continuous dialogue with the material. While each form begins with a clear intention, Morris allows the natural movement of the clay to guide the outcome, embracing unpredictability as an essential component of the finished work. Chromatic Flow reflects an ongoing journey of material exploration, celebrating the tension between form, colour, and movement.
