Since moving from Scotland to London in 1987, John has performed across the UK and Europe with an astonishing roster of artists including Roy Williams, Enrico Tomasso, Warren Vaché, Leroy Jones, Jon Erik Kellso, Scott Robinson, Amy Roberts, Stephanie Trick, Digby Fairweather, Zoe Rahman, Jim Mullen, Stan Sulzmann, Dave Cliff and many more. A recipient of the NFMS Special Concert Artists Award , John went on to study at the renowned Berklee School of Music , before continuing private studies with jazz legends Jerry Bergonzi, Joe Henderson, and Don Lamphere. His career has taken him from London to San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver and back again, performing throughout Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, Canada, and the US. With 14 albums as a leader and more than 100 recording sessions across jazz, pop, rock and electronica — plus appearances on BBC Radio, BBC TV, STV, Channel 4 and beyond — John brings a depth of experience and musicality that lights up every stage. Since returning to the UK, he has toured with The Mavericks, Right Said Fred, Camille O’Sullivan, Scottish Opera, Peatbog Faeries, Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat, and many more.
