Artistic Research Focus “The Body as Site, the Site as Body” is a four-day international site-specific performance residency and artistic research intensive taking place in the protected Natura 2000 landscape of Lake Kaiafas in the Peloponnese region of Greece . The program offers an immersive environment for exploring performance and live art practices in dialogue with natural landscapes and extra-urban environments . Participants will work with methodologies that examine the relationship between body, place, movement and time , developing new individual and collective performance works while engaging with the surrounding environment. The residency takes place within a unique landscape including the lake, regenerated Strofilia pine forest, sand dunes, coastline and thermal springs , creating a rich context for artistic experimentation. Conceptual Axes Participants will explore questions such as: • How can we create a site-specific performance ? • How does the body function as a site of memories, identities and experiences ? • How can the poetics of a place be integrated into artistic composition? • How can performance engage with natural ecosystems and environmental awareness ? Within the residency framework, the natural landscape becomes an active factor in the artistic process , informing the structure, research and development of the works created. Artistic Tools & Practices The residency is structured around four main conceptual axes: Body — Natural Landscape — Movement — Time Through embodied practice participants will develop spatial awareness and investigate relationships between human presence, ecology and artistic creation. Dialogue with the Landscape of Kaiafas Practical sessions introduce tools and methodologies for performance and live art creation including: • walking meditations • activation stillness practices • butoh techniques • collaborative ensemble work • performance scores • sensorial-motor actions • voice-body-speech activation • psychomotor exercises • field research in natural environments • community art practices • non-linear narratives • development of individual artistic poetics Activities combine solo and collaborative processes and will primarily take place within the natural outdoor landscape. Workshop Structure The residency engages deeply with the ecological and historical characteristics of the area. The surrounding landscape includes: • Lake Kaiafas and its wetland ecosystem • the Strofilia pine forest • sand dune formations • Mount Lapithas • the Ionian Sea coastline • thermal springs known since antiquity • migratory birds and wildlife refuges • nesting areas of the Caretta Caretta sea turtle These natural and historical elements consist the prima materia for artistic research and reflection . Indicative thematic directions for exploration may include: • body and natural elements • human–nature relationships • healing, nature and body • environmental and climate concerns • migratory worlds and ecosystems Tutors The four-day program is structured as follows: 70% methodological tools for performance & live art creation 20% tutorials and feedback during the composition process 10% collective reflection and discussion The program includes theoretical framing and audiovisual documentation of the artistic process.
