RegisterKiss the Sky: Fallen Women, Glass Ceilings and the Return of the Goddess, is a solo exhibition by Brighton-based artist Girl Shit (Zoë Bailey) that explores glamour, feminism, and the politics of feminine representation through painting, sculpture, installation, collage, and printed material.
Inspired by questions surrounding glass ceilings—what they restrict, who they protect, and what might happen if they disappeared— Kiss the Sky examines how feminine identities have been shaped, controlled, and mythologised through visual culture. Drawing on a lifelong archive of vintage magazines, Girl Shit foregrounds images of women from pre-digital culture, where beauty existed without Photoshop, cosmetic surgery, or a single imposed ideal. These figures—stars, pin-ups, and so-called fallen women—become speculative, narrative-rich subjects rather than fixed archetypes. PV 3 April, 18:00-20:00. Girl Shit is a Brighton-based multidisciplinary artist known for her radical, satirical, and allegorical explorations of female narratives. Her practice spans oil painting, sculpture, installation, drawing, printmaking, collage, and DIY artist merchandise, shaped by both formal art education and the influence of post-punk subcultures.
