RSVPBorn in Baltimore, Maryland, Lisa Corinne Davis received her BFA from Pratt Institute, and MFA from Hunter College. Her paintings have been exhibited across the United States and in Europe Davis’ work is included in many prestigious collections including The Museum of Modern Art, the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and The Philadelphia Museum of Art. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, The Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Grant, a National Endowment for the Arts Visual Artist Fellowship, a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, and three Artist Fellowships from The New York Foundation for the Arts. In 2017, she was inducted as a National Academician at the National Academy Museum & School. She is a Professor of Art and the Co-Director of the MFA Program at Hunter College. Davis is currently represented by Miles McEnery Gallery (New York) and The Mayor Gallery (London). What’s Going On? (September 26, 2026 - January 30, 2027) is a solo exhibition surveying paintings and works on paper from 2017 - 2026. Davis creates works centered on multilayered, narrative-encoded networks. Cultivating an open-ended approach, she crafts an “inventive geography” that invites diverse interpretations. Her art produces a thought-provoking and unexpected fusion of eclectic form and subject matter. As an African American artist,Davis uses her practice to examine the intricate dynamics among race, history, and culture. Through this lens, herwork addresses themes of order and chaos, rationality and irrationality, as well as contingency and classification. What’s Going On? was made possible with support from Miles McEnery Gallery. PRESS RELEASE. EXHIBITION CHECKLIST Read more Toggle Painting
