Fresh out of prison, good-hearted small-time thief Lupyn returns to his hometown in South Moravia, only to find the world turned upside down by the pandemic. About UK Premiere Fresh out of prison, good-hearted small-time thief Lupyn returns to his hometown in South Moravia, only to find the world turned upside down by the pandemic. With businesses struggling and the usual rules seemingly suspended, his particular talents suddenly offer an unlikely way to help those around him. But when Lupyn’s plans bring him into the orbit of local crime boss Asasín and corrupt policeman Čeněk (wonderfully played by Václav Neužil) - who happens to be dating Lupyn’s mother- things quickly become more complicated than he bargained for. This feature debut from Sundance-winning director Ondřej Hudeček is a sharp and wonderfully earthy mix of black comedy, crime and satire. Steeped in local dialect, characters and atmosphere, it puts a distinctly Czech spin on the classic heist comedy, delivering a mischievous 'Covid Western ' where the boundaries between right and wrong become increasingly blurred.
