About event

An exchange project on drawing from Berlin and the Cologne area. Performance at the opening, 7.30 pm, Nicole Wendel with Jennifer Eckert Sellerie Weekend: May 1 to 3, 2026, from 2–6 pm Closing reception: 30.05.2026, 4 pm About Following on from the joint exhibition project at KunstWerk Köln in spring 2025, the dialogue between six artists will be continued at SCOTTY Berlin. The artistic positions from the respective regions, which deal with drawing or line at the boundaries to other disciplines, come together here. Works on paper, installations, objects, and texts will be on display. In addition to installations and wall works developed specifically for the venue, the exhibition will begin with a performance. The exchange project handles air turbulence as a fleeting, formative element. It describes the turbulence in the lower atmosphere caused by uneven heating of the Earth’s surface. This phenomenon causes stars to twinkle, and is known in astronomy as seeing. The atmosphere is in constant motion, images flicker, orientation and sharpness are lost. Even though the object itself does not move, what is seen is no longer reliable—an atmospheric vertigo. But it is not the world that is tilting, rather perception that is thrown off balance—the cause lies in the instability between observer and object. The exhibition picks up on these changes in perception, which are generally considered disruptive factors in the natural sciences, and translates the atmospheric unrest into a physical and visual sensation of vertigo, where perceptions are shaken, movement is considered a prerequisite for life, and the constant is allowed to change temporarily. The exhibition seeks to explore the artistic and perceptual-aesthetic potential of these states. Anne Cichos understands drawing as remembered, kinesthetic movement. Her works explore elementary physical forces—states of matter, gravity, light, and the atmospheric conditions that constitute a place. She is showing her latest works from her ongoing project of abrasion drawings. They were created during an artist residency on a mountain ridge in the Westfjords of Iceland. Jennifer Eckert explores the interconnections of text and textile, writing and fabric. In a process-oriented field of research, drawings, objects, and artist’s books emerge that interrogate the book as concept and structure. They focus on knots, interstices, and ruptures in language and form. Eva Maria Kollischan understands drawing as emotional expression, a tension between abstraction and representation. For the exhibition Luftunruhe, she has developed a site-specific work that addresses movement as a symbol of change and development. The drawing on the window reveals a membrane that connects the interior and exterior spaces. Julia Krewani examines the phenomenon of movement using sculptural drawings and kinetic objects. For the exhibition, she has explored the visibility of air in the form of windsocks. Julia Pietschmann uses drawing to explore thresholds, border areas, and landscapes in which changing ideals, humanity’s relationship with nature, and human intervention become visible. She is exhibiting drawings from the series “Schneefelder” (Snowfields) and a wall drawing. The works bear witness to atmospheric turbulence, reveal hidden colours of snow and make air turbulence visible as colour vibrations. Nicole Wendel combines performance with drawing. For many years, she has been fascinated by the connection between movement as drawing, sound as inter-resonance, and abrasion as a lasting trace of fleeting events. These aspects are reflected in her performance. She also presents a large-format drawing from the year-long series “Beyond”. Read more Toggle Performance / Live Art Drawing Mixed media
