RSVPThe first Dutch solo exhibition by Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien, featuring monumental installations exploring memory, care, the body and cultural heritage. About Material Memories is the first solo exhibition in the Netherlands by Paris-born artist Marie-Claire Messouma Manlanbien. Through monumental installations made from textiles, copper, organic materials and crystals, the artist connects different periods, cultures and traditions. The exhibition brings together six installations exploring the body, care, memory and what we pass on to future generations. Materials such as gold, copper, fabrics, plants and crystals are not simply building materials, but carriers of history, memory and meaning. Material Memories also includes new work created following Manlanbien's residency at Villa Medici in Rome, resulting in sensory installations combining textiles, fragrant plants and flowers, essential oils, poetry and sound.
