RSVPSound, video and sculpture installation exploring the transformative potential of sound and listening in time of environmental change About Following the Winchester gallery’s summer refurbishment we are delighted to be re-opening with a fresh new space this September with a show by Winchester based environmental artist Yolande Harris. On Behalf of These: Sound Portal for Bell Bubbles features glass, video, sound, textile and drawings. A special new work brings together three special films for the first time. They combine research into whales, oceans, underwater sound, forests and local bell-ringing from Winchester Cathedral in a sensory experience. Yolande Harris research explores all the animal and natural world and shows how listening to our planet is vital in times of environmental change. She uses sound to link different subject matters, creating a deeply meditative experience that connects us to nature and the sounds around us. Yolande Harris is a Senior Lecturer in Art and Media Technology at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton. Yolande is a composer, sound and video artist with an internationally recognized research practice that focuses on the transformative potential of sound and listening.
