Open Studios: Group exhibition “Contamination”

Group exhibition “Contamination”, featuring artists who share the workspace at Duplex. Fernando Brum, Fernando Moletta, João Concha, Mitch Ekas, MOM, Naira Pennacchi, Paula Koenig, Pietro Cavalcanti, Susana Rocha, Thomas Szott Contamination, in many natural contexts, refers to the unwanted presence of harmful, impure or dangerous substances in materials, environments, or living organisms. It involves the introduction of pollutants such as chemicals, pathogenic agents, or radioactive materials that render substances unsafe. However, a studio is not a natural context. In this space where rules are subverted, contamination is not deviation, but method. It expands and fertilises without decaying. One gesture leans into another, one idea crosses the wall, and is either digested or rejected. What circulates in this porous and ventilated system finds no conditions to reproduce or be serialised: it transforms into a new body or concept, embracing risk, genarating breath.
