OpenArt 2026

OpenArt is Örebro's recurring art biennale, where contemporary art from all over the world coexists in the middle of the city and is experienced without an entrance ticket.

Since 2008, OpenArt has been Örebro's art biennial, an exhibition that returns every two years, where contemporary art from all over the world comes together in the middle of the city and is experienced without an entrance ticket. You meet the art of everyday life where you are, on your way somewhere, to the restaurant, waiting for your friend or for the walk along Svartån. In 2026, it is the tenth edition. Contemporary art becomes part of central Örebro for three months, where it surprises, touches, creates unexpected conversations and evokes new thoughts. With Örebro Art Gallery as a starting point and infocenter, visitors are activated and engaged with screenings and events. Järntorget is the place of creativity and creation with imaginative activities and inspiring workshops. Through the OpenArt app, the visitor can experience art on their own terms, read more about and mark their favorite works in the interactive map or solve the small art loop with the whole family. In the summer, OPENART will be back and fill Örebro with art again. The opening is on June 13 and the exhibition runs until September 6, 2026. OpenArt is organized by the art unit, Örebro municipality. The art unit under Nature and cultural life in Örebro municipality, brings together OpenArt, Örebro art gallery and public art in Örebro municipality under the same management.
