Other than Words: A Sense of Release in the Presence of Art

Clare Hall is delighted to host Other than Words: A Sense of Release in the Presence of Art, a new exhibition of recent paintings by Jerry Scott. The exhibition will be open for public viewing Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm, 25 September to 12 November 2026. About Bringing together a selection of recent works, the exhibition explores Scott’s enduring fascination with colour, texture and form. His paintings develop intuitively, without a fixed image in mind, allowing each work to take shape gradually through the process of painting. Layers of colour and texture build over time, sometimes across weeks or months, as relationships between different forms emerge and the composition slowly settles. The resulting paintings reflect a spontaneous and exploratory approach to making, with colour at the centre of the experience. Visitors are invited to discover a body of work shaped by Scott’s lifelong engagement with painting and by his interest in the emotional and sensory possibilities of colour. Read more Toggle Painting
