Polish artists at REFLECTIONS - Mandarin Oriental Mayfair

REFLECTIONS at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair explores light, material and perception through the cultural history of Hanover Square, presenting Polish designers Aneta Kocia, Magdalena Zarychta and Zieta Studio as part of Curated Connections with On&On Designs. About As part of the Reflections exhibition, Polish designers Aneta Kocia, Magdalena Zarychta and Zieta Studio present work that examines how light and material shape perception, drawing on Hanover Square's cultural history as a starting point for new spatial and sensory experiments. Gdańsk-based ceramic artist Aneta Kocia presents her UNDERTOW series, exploring the tension between stillness and movement, permanence and transformation. Built entirely by hand, layer by layer, UNDERTOW No.1's distorted, expanding edges evoke the movement of water and the erosion of rock, while UNDERTOW No.4 unfolds through undulating, layered planes shaped by natural forces. Magdalena Zarychta presents Pulsars, a series of hand-blown glass sculptures in which hand-impressed reliefs preserve the memory of gesture and movement. Shifting layers of colour and transparency are revealed by changing light, bringing together traditional glassblowing technique with an observation of structures found in living organisms. Zieta Studio, led by architect and process designer Oskar Zięta, is known internationally for FiDU, his proprietary method of forming steel through internal pressure. At Reflections, the studio presents Crystal Totem and Crystal Monoliths from the ongoing Crystals series: geometric, mirror-surfaced steel modules that reflect and refract light and their surroundings, generating shifting, kaleidoscopic impressions. Together, the three artists suggest that perception itself, how light, material and place intersect, is as much a design material as any physical substance. Reflections also brings together leading British contemporary artists and international voices, alongside a presentation from Vessel Gallery, extending the exhibition's exploration of light and material perception. Curated Connections is presented in collaboration with On&On Designs & Creative Project Foundation. The project is co-financed by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage under the Creative Industries Institute's Development of Creative Sectors programme.
