A photographic installation bringing together 400 photographs and writing fragments from three years of living in and leaving South-East London, opening a personal archive to shared experiences and connections. About Present Here is an experimental photographic and installation project bringing together photographs and writing fragments from three years of living in and leaving South-East London. Over three years, Vincent Zhensheng Lian made nearly 2,000 photographs of the places, landscapes and everyday moments around him in Lewisham and Greenwich, without a predetermined theme. Before leaving the UK, he initiated this project by selecting nearly 400 photographs and writing fragments from his phone album and journal, to be presented across a range of local cultural and community spaces. The project takes different forms at different venues, exploring how a personal archive can become a space for shared experiences and connections through photographic installations and an artist’s book. At Shapes, Lian presents over 300 photographs and writing fragments on the wall, inviting visitors to view them through binoculars. The artist will be in attendance on selected days.
