RSVPSabine Moritz's first UK exhibition ill take viewers on a journey of memory, family, home, displacement, and the escape that nature can provide in an urban setting. About This autumn the Garden Museum will hold contemporary German artist Sabine Moritz’s first UK museum exhibition. Drawing on her recollections of growing up in the German Democratic Republic before departing to West Germany as a teenager, Moritz explores imagined memories and encounters with the natural world through richly textured sketches and canvases that feel both intimate and emotive, most of which have never been exhibited before. Landscapes of plants encroaching on brutal concrete tower blocks of her childhood, floral still lifes and a new vast abstract work painted especially for the exhibition will take viewers on a journey of memory, family, home, displacement, and the escape that nature can provide in an urban setting.
