About event

Come get your hands dirty and create your own unique seed pod garden ornaments in this fun pottery workshop at Nancy Potter House in Topsham Welcome to my Seed Pod Garden Ornament Pottery Workshop at Nancy Potter House, EX3 0DX . My name is Helen McCormick and I'm a local ceramic artist and qualified art and design teacher. I've been creating objects from clay for the past 28 years, and I still absolutely love the process. I am passionate about teaching and have created this workshop to share my skills, knowledge and experience with anyone who would like to have a go for the first time or to develop their skills further. Join me for a fun and creative session where you can learn to make beautiful garden ornaments inspired by nature's seed pods. This in-person event will guide you through the pottery-making process, from shaping the clay to adding intricate details. Whether you're a beginner or have experience with pottery, this workshop is perfect for anyone looking to unleash their artistic side. During the day you will learn how to create your beautiful ornaments using traditional hand-building techniques. You will make 3 in total. All materials and equipment will be provided, including 3 metal rods of varying heights to place the ornments in your garden. Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the day. The only thing you need to bring is a packed lunch and an apron or wear old clothes. There is no parking at Nancy Potter House. The nearest Pay and Display Carpark is The Lord Nelson. After the workshop, I will carefully take your ornaments home and fire them in my kiln. They will be glazed with an antique gold glaze, making them water proof to go into your garden. Your beautiful creations will be ready for collection approximately 6 weeks after the workshop finishes, dependent on how quickly the clay dries out. I will let you know via email. Please follow me on Instagram and Facebook to see photographs of work made in my previous workshops.
