Shared Portraits, Creative Lab with Katya Tsareva

Creative Lab # 1 Shared Portraits with multidisciplinary artist Katya Tsareva Spend a day inside artist Katya Tsareva's portrait-making practice. Early Bird tickets available until 10 October https://eventbrite.co.uk/e/shared-portraits-with-artist-katya-tsareva-creative-lab-tickets-2002129793107 For the first Rabbit’s Choice Creative Lab, London-based multidisciplinary artist Katya Tsareva invites you into an evolving experiment in portraiture, participation and shared authorship. Throughout the day, multiple portraits will be created collectively. You move between viewer, sitter and maker. You will observe, pose, draw or leave a mark within a work that has already been shaped by someone else. Katya will be working on the portraits with you throughout the day, responding to what participants add while allowing the works to develop beyond her original intention. You don't need to be an artist. There is no artistic skill required and no expectation of what you should create. The experience is about being curious, participating and allowing yourself to become part of an artwork that you cannot completely control. You can come to observe, sit for a portrait, make a mark - or do all three. After the event, there will be an opportunity to chat, connect and network at the beautiful Arc Space. About Katya Tsareva Katya Tsareva is a London-based multidisciplinary artist working across painting, drawing, textiles and sculpture. Portraiture and the human figure sit at the centre of her practice, through which she explores how we see, recognise and relate to one another. About Creative Labs Creative Labs are a new series by Rabbit’s Choice, an artist-led platform creating spaces for creators to experiment, encounter and make differently. Each Lab gives an artist the opportunity to open up their practice, test an idea and explore what can happen when other people, disciplines or perspectives enter the process. For Shared Portraits, Katya explores what happens when the boundaries between artist, subject and audience begin to blur. Don't just experience the work. Become part of it.
