RSVPMosaic Rooms presents sounding towards – –, a five-month project transforming the gallery into a site for listening, sonic experimentation and conviviality. About The project is composed of three elements: From–To , an installation by Gaza's Dahaleez Collective, Common Frequencies by El Warcha Collaborative Design Studio and a rolling programme of artist takeovers. El Warcha's Common Frequencies in the upstairs gallery proposes a sonic commons: a shared environment where artists, visitors and communities collectively shape the space. Here, Mosaic Rooms becomes an informal, inhabited and open space, at the boundary between studio, rehearsal space and public forum. Constructed from reclaimed furniture and donated and found objects, the space leans into the domestic architecture of the building, with its rooms scaled for nearness and for the unhurried time of being together. In a moment when the need for genuine spaces of gathering feels urgent, sounding towards – – proposes the gallery as a place to slow down, to listen and to perhaps find a sonic language for moving through this unsteady world. Instruments, recording devices, books and listening stations remain available for use, misuse and re-use. Over the course of the project, London-based artists and interlocutors Bint Mbareh, 1000 Pounds To Survive Us, felix taylor and Aditi Jaganathan will inhabit and shape the space. Each will host their own period within it, bringing distinct sonic practices and forms of gathering into resonance, drawn from the scenes they have been building and are a part of. Moving through themes of revolutionary education, poetry, choir and the score as a form of memory, the takeovers approach sound not as something to be consumed but as a generative social practice. The invitation is to sonically implicate the body, to improvise, to linger, to sprawl, to turn toward one another. To gather instruments and friends. Those who enter may find themselves part of an ensemble – staff, resident artists and participants gathering in constellations. In the lower gallery, From–To by Dahaleez Collective asks for a different kind of attention, a deep, still listening to what survives in the face of erasure. Assembled from sonic recordings gathered in Gaza City during 2024 and 2025, the work forms an auditory archive of Al-Rashid Street. Through sounds like the sea, traffic and voices, the installation preserves traces of place. At its centre is a composition by Mahmoud Abu Warda, originally written during the eleven-day war of 2021 and produced four years later with the Lisbon Symphonic Orchestra. From–To unfolds as a journey across memory, it holds what was, what is, and what refuses to disappear. sounding towards – – is an experiment in institutional openness, in the organisation loosening its curatorial hold and extending its space and resources to others to occupy and shape. It draws from earlier models of hospitality and collective inhabitation at Mosaic Rooms, including Al-Madafeh by DAAR (2021) and Translation as Hospitality by The School of Mutants (2024), continuing in this spirit of observing that space can be a resource rather than a stage and treating that as a site of learning. Sunday jams run throughout the project, making the space available to anyone who wants to use it. Free, open and bookable in advance. The title sounding towards – – remains intentionally unfinished. It asks what kinds of collectivities can emerge through shared acts of listening and convening, a sounding towards something we cannot yet fully materialise, but can begin to rehearse. Who’s coming? Running in tandem, a new public programme, opens ears to how memory and imagination are carried sonically. Titled songs these jaws cannot hold , it will trace songs and sounds that are disappearing, alongside those that bear witness to disappearance. Instruments generously provided by Jas Musicals. Initiated and developed by Angelina Radaković in conversation with the artists. Rand Hamdallah, design, 2026. Courtesy of the artist and Mosaic Rooms.
