What happens when bacteria, fungi, waste and robots become tools for imagining the future? About SPOILED PROPAGANDA: grafting bio-futurism takes over Hypha Gallery Euston this October, bringing together an international group of artists, biodesigners, researchers and makers experimenting at the edges of art, biology and technology. Supported by Hypha Studios. Expect microbial pigments, mycelium, living materials, seafood waste transformed into new materials, robotically fabricated soil and objects designed to support more-than-human life. Rather than treating nature as something to imitate or extract from, the works explore what happens when biological systems become collaborators in the design process. Curated by London-based PHYEIN Collective, the exhibition asks audiences to look beyond the futures we are routinely sold and encounter alternatives that are stranger, messier and more alive. Taking place at Euston Tower during Frieze Week, the exhibition is free to visit and accompanied by a programme of free workshops, talks and events, inviting audiences to get closer to the materials, processes and ideas behind the work.
