RSVPStill Joy, from Ukraine into the World is a collateral event in 61st Venice Biennale in Venice, Italy. About Stories collected by a Ukrainian journalist and a former soldier and prisoner of war will feature in a major exhibition at this year's Venice Biennale. Their testimonies will be accompanied by works by artists including Tacita Dean, Kateryna Aliinyk and Ashfika Rahman in Still Joy - From Ukraine into the World. The show, which is at the Palazzo Contarini Polignac from May 9 to August 1, is supported by the foundation of Ukrainian billionaire Victor Pinchuk. It includes a series of landscapes by Aliinyk, Dean’s 2025 film If I were in the Adlon and Rahman’s installation of Hindu temple bells suspended by golden silk threads. The announcement of the show comes after the biennale was plunged into controversy when it confirmed earlier this month Russia is returning to the event for the first time since the invasion of Ukraine. It was reported yesterday that 37 members of the European Parliament signed a letter urging the European Union to suspend its $2.3 million funding of the biennale if Russia takes part.
