About event

A blazing inferno of physicality, electronica, and uncompromising personal testimony from the frontlines of the UK's food banks from multi-award-winning Ugly Bucket. About This is about food banks. This is not about food. This is about the bad stuff. This is an emergency. This is a clowning show. Multi-award-winners Ugly Bucket present a blazing inferno of physicality, electronica, and uncompromising personal testimony from the frontlines of the UK's food banks. As phones ring, guts spill, and sparks ignite faster than they can be extinguished, five clowns search for hope and community in the face of helplessness. Created in association with Liverpool's Unity Theatre, STUFFED is a roaring call to action amidst the wreckage of a desecrated system. More than a show, STUFFED is an invitation to gather — an evening of food, electrifying theatre, and empowering discussion illuminating the dark corners and exploring the power of collective action. All performances are captioned and accompanied by a free community meal and local food donation drive. Winner of The Stage Fringe Five The Good Stuff Wraparound Programme STUFFED is more than a show. Every performance is accompanied by The Good Stuff: a programme of shared meals, practical action, and conversations that continue long after the house lights come up. Designed to bring audiences together around the realities of food poverty, it's an invitation not just to watch, but to take part. And there's more than enough to go around. Free Pre-Show Community Meal 6:30pm, New Diorama Theatre Before every performance, audiences are invited to share a free communal meal together. Whether you're arriving with friends or flying solo, it's a chance to pull up a chair, meet the people around you, and start the evening in good company. Because the thing about food is: it gives you time. The Good Stuff Post-Show Gathering 8:45pm, New Diorama Theatre The conversation doesn't end when the show does. After each performance, local organisations tackling food poverty and community need will join us for a practical, action-focused conversation. Find out what's already happening in the area, hear from people doing the work, and discover how your own time, skills, resources, or networks could make a difference. No expertise required. Get involved. Food Donation Drive From your donation, to on-stage prop, to community resource. Audience members are invited to donate food and essential toiletries, which will become part of the show before being redistributed to local food banks and community organisations. Donation requests will be tailored to the needs of our local partners, with more information shared ahead of your visit. Company Described as 'one of the UK's most exciting young companies' (New Diorama) and named one of The Stage Fringe Five Breakthrough Theatre Makers Of The Future (2024) - Ugly Bucket are a Liverpool based national touring company that create hilarious gut-punching shows combining clown with physicality, original electronic music and personal testimony. They are often outrageous, audacious and always honest, working closely with communities to respond to current themes in a bold way. Beyond their shows, they champion the clowning practice as a dynamic tool for community bonding, self exploration and social change. They believe when people are laughing they are listening, and use humour as a catalyst for deeper connections. They share their practice through workshops nationally and internationally, and host a yearly clowning retreat at Bidston Observatory Artistic Research Centre. www.uglybuckettheatre.co.uk | @uglybuckettheatre Running Time: 60 minutes Content Warnings: Loud sounds and sirens, flashing lights, haze, smoke, flame, strong language/swearing.
