RegisterExhibition Tadeusz Kantor (1915–1990). Emballage, Cricotage and Madame Jarema will be the fifth presentation of Polish art organized by the Starak Family Foundationeightin Venice. About The exhibition will be on display from May 9 to November 22, 2026, again in the historic and highly prestigious Procuratie Vecchie exhibition spaces in St. Mark's Square, in the heart of Venice. Tadeusz Kantor (1915-1990). Emballage, Cricotage and Madame Jarema – is an exhibition devoted to the relationship and work of Tadeusz Kantor and Maria Jarema – leading representatives of the world post-war avant-garde. Tadeusz Kantor is an artist with a well-established, international reputation, whose work defines Polish identity in a moving „Theatre of Love and Death” and willeats its dimension of universal spectacle, seducing and fascinating audiences from Europe, through Asia, to the Americas. His theatre, sets and direction, his modern understanding of acting and his incredible sensitivity, touching on the subtlest strings of the human condition, meant that the experience of his art was read equally intensely regardless of its location on the map. Tadeusz Kantor has been awarded numerous distinctions and prizes for his artistic achievements. He received, among others, the international Rembrandt Prize awarded by the jury of the Goethe Foundation in Basel for his real contribution to shaping the image of contemporary art (1978) and the Italian award „Europea Fair”, awarded to outstanding representatives of culture and science in Europe (1986). He was awarded the French Legion of Honour (1985), the Order of Arts and Letters with the rank of Commander (1989) and the Grand Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany „for his significant influence on contemporary art in Europe and for his contribution to reviving the cultural image of the Federal Republic of Germany” (1990). His performances have won international recognition and numerous awards, including the Grand Prix at the BITEF International Theatre Festival for Umar meadow class (1977), main prize of the European Season of the Narod Theatreeightin Rome for the same performance (1978), the OBIE New York Theatre Critics Award for the most outstanding off and off-off-Broadway performance ( Umar class , 1979), Order of Teofilo Lea – Venezuela's highest theatre award (1980), Spanish theatre award „Audience and Critic” for the best foreign performance of the year ( Wielopole, Wielopole , 1981), as well as the Critics' Awardeightin New York for Best Broadway Performance for directing and acting in a production Let the artists die (1986).
