Tanja Ostojić: ENCOUNTERS - On Bodies, Borders, Resistance

ENCOUNTERS presents 25 years of Tanja Ostojić’s feminist and post-migrant practice, exploring migration, gender, body politics and institutional power through performance, video, installation and conceptual art. About ENCOUNTERS is the first major retrospectivein Germany of worksby the­ Berlin- based artist Tanja Ostojić. As a pioneerof feminist and post-migrant artistic practice, she has been exploring issues such as migration, body politics, genderrelations, and institutional mechanisms of power and exclusion since the 1990s. Her work alternates between performance art, video, installation, and ­conceptual art as well as photography, drawing, and textile work, often created in close collaboration with others. The exhibition brings together pivotal works from the past 25 years as well as several new productions, and provides a tangible sense of the lasting relevance of Ostojić's practice to current social debates. An accompanying public programme with Artist Talk, Round Table und Workshop further develops the themes of the exhibition.
