Come along to the opening event for the inaugural exhibition by the brand new, queer creative collective KETTLEPOT! About This multimedia exhibition brings together works that challenge patriarchal and phallocentric traditions, and asks how artists, subjects, and viewers can reclaim agency from the objectifying influence of the dominant cisgender, heterosexual male gaze. Rather than reinforcing limiting ideas and inherited ways of seeing, it will explore the possibility of emancipatory gazes - ones that enable queer people to become the makers, rather than the bearers, of their own meaning. KETTLEPOT is a new art collective with a mission to provide a platform for LGBTQIA+ artists, with a particular focus on queer women, trans and non-binary individuals, who work in any creative discipline, to showcase artwork that transcends commonly held, limiting beliefs around themes of identity, the gaze and gender.
